The former Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene has cleared the rumours in the air and has clearly stated that he is not looking for the post of Head Coach of Indian cricket team. He has cleared the news on social media, on a day when him showing interest to coach team India made rounds, after his IPL success. Jayawardene though denied every speculation –
Flattered by speculation linking me to India coaching job but I am not looking at full-time positions right now.
— Mahela Jayawardena (@MahelaJay) June 26, 2017
I am completely focused on current commitments with MI and Khulna.

With these two tweets, he also cleared that he is not looking for a full-time job as of now. Along with it, Jayawardene has also answered the Sri Lankan Board, which termed him as short of experience for Head Coach of a side.
The former Sri Lankan batting legend has tasted success in his short career as apart from working with England team in the year 2015 as a batting consultant, he coached Mumbai Indians to their third IPL victory in the tenth season of IPL which concluded in the month of May. Riding on this success, he was also signed by the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Khulna Titans, where he will coach the side in the upcoming season of BPL and in the next season as well. Apart from that, he has also revealed that he will be there in Mumbai Indians backroom staff for the eleventh edition of IPL too.
Jayawardene would have been a strong competitor for many presents in the race for the Indian coaching job but with him clearing all the rumours, the ones present in this row can take a sigh of relief as he would have been a big threat to many other cricketers.
Meanwhile, the last date to apply for the post of Head Coach of Indian cricket team has been deferred to July 9, which is a chance for many others as well to try and put their name on the list of aspirants for the job. It is to be noted the same time, Sri Lankan cricket board is also looking for a coach after Graham Ford stepped down from the post. So there will be a case when we might find few of the same names on the list of aspirants for the coaching job of India and Sri Lanka.
In fact, this could very well happen that the upcoming series between India and Sri Lanka turns out to the first assignment for new coaches of both the sides, which will be quite interesting to watch.
