Malaysia seamer Syazrul Idrus become the first player in the history of the game to record the first seven-wicket haul in a Men’s T20I. Idrus completed this feat in their game against China taking 7 wickets of just 8 runs which propelled his team to secure his team dominating win on ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Asia Regional Qualifier B.
The Right-arm bowler bowled exceedingly well in Pandamaran as he rattled the Chinese batting order, picking up 7-wickets in the game to bowl out the China team for just 23 runs. In the chase of 24 runs, China took two quick wickets in the match, before they had a partnership to win the game, as they chased down the total in five overs.
A total of 12 bowlers in International Cricket had previously claimed six-wicket hauls in a Men’s T20I – including the Indian speedster Deepak Chahar and ace spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the Indian team and the record by the Syazrul Idrus will go on the history books as the right-arm pacer form would be crucial for the team in qualifier stage.

Malaysia will look to continue their fine form going into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Asia Regional Qualifier B, as this start would be crucial for the team’s success going into the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. The winner of the tournament will move to the Asia Regional Final in Nepal of which two teams will move to the marquee event in the USA.
The tournament will be contested by 20 teams. It is scheduled to be hosted by the West Indies and the United States in June 2024. It will be the first ICC World Cup tournament to feature matches played in the United States. This will be the first time 20 teams will participate in the event, as the shorter format of the game has grown in multiple countries.
The 20 qualifying teams will be divided into four groups of five, from which the top two teams in each group advance to the Super 8 round. In this stage, the qualifying teams will be split into two groups of four; the top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage, which will consist of two semi-finals and a final.
