Rohit Sharma:
Rohit Sharma started off his career as the middle-order batsman but there was no difference in his performance. After six years of making his white-ball debut, he earned the call in the Test team in 2013 against West Indies. Notably, this was the Test series in which Sachin Tendulkar bid adieu to the cricket world.
In the first Test match, the Mumbaikar scored 177, the second-best score on debut by an Indian behind Shikhar Dhawan (187). He followed it up with 111 (not out) in the second Test at his home ground, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. For his commendable performance, he was awarded the Man of the Series.
Last year, Rohit was given a place in the Test team as an opener against South Africa. He went on to score maiden double hundred in the red-ball format.
