Manoj Tiwary Named Bengal Cricketer Of The Year, Ashok Dinda - The Best Bowler 1

Manoj Tiwary has been named as the Bengal cricketer of the year for the season 2016/17.

Tiwary had a spectacular season with the bat and as a skipper as well. Apart from scoring 643 runs in 14 Ranji Trophy innings at an average of 49.46, the right-handed batsman led Bengal side to the final of Vijay Hazare Trophy after defeating MS Dhoni-led Jharkhand in the semi-final at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.

Though the 2011/12 champions of the same tournament failed to get past a small total of 217 in the final against Tamil Nadu and lost the game. (Read Here: Reason Why Sehwag Did Not Become Team India Coach)

Still, Tiwary had a great season, as he also led East Zone to a title victory in the inaugural edition of Inter-Zinal Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He performed well in IPL as well and his success story saw him winning the award of Bengal Cricketer of the year. Though despite his efforts, the batsman failed to make it to the India ‘A’ side for the tour to South Africa, as the selectors have now moved ahead of senior players and have decided to send a young team for the tough test.

Ashok Dinda, one of the senior members of Bengal team has been awarded the best bowler award of the season. Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named as the Gentleman Cricketer of the year while Abhishek Raman was announced as the best U-23 cricketer.
