Martin Guptill to re-join Derbyshire in County Championship 2015
The Midlands County announced on Monday that Kiwi batsman Martin Guptill, a member of co-hosts New Zealand’s squad for the ICC World Cup 2015 is going to rejoin Derbyshire as their international player for the early part of the 2015 County Championship season.
The 28 years aged Martin Guptill played for the Derbyshire in the 2011 and 2012 seasons and will come for the six starting Championship matches and 1st 3 T20 fixtures of the new season.
He was quoted saying: “I always wanted to go back to Derbyshire when the time was right. I get on great with the people and have lots of really good memories. Hopefully I can help my county make a quick start to the season to get them in the promotion mix again, and get the lads off to a flier in the T20 Blast.”
He also played for this team that won the Division Two County Championship title in 2012 season.
Martin Guptill scored 3 tons with an average of 43.50, during his time with Derbyshire.
However Martin Guptill is not in queue to be included in the Test campaign as it is more than 2 years since he was involved in test cricket, on New Zealand’s last tour of England in 2013.
