For the first time in the history of Indian cricket, DDCA advertised for various jobs at different age group levels, and even the board wouldn’t have thought the move will get such a response.
The move to promote the various roles has invited mass attraction. Former Indian players like Manoj Prabhakar, Vijay Dahiya, Ajay Sharma, Gurcharan Singh, Sunil Joshi and many domestic players have applied for various roles in Delhi team and have been shortlisted by the five-member Cricket Affair Committee headed by Madan Lal.

There were chances that the image of DDCA might keep former players restrain from going for the job, but that wasn’t the case. The race to the spot for various posts has now become attractive with the entrance of few of the veterans in the contest.

The biggest surprise on the list is that of KP Bhaskar. He performed the role of Delhi coach in the previous season and had an ugly confrontation with Delhi skipper Gautam Gambhir, which resulted in the Gambhir facing the ban for four games.
However, the ban was lifted later on. The second interesting name is that of Sunil Joshi. Recently, his name cropped up for the post of spin bowling consultant of Bangladesh as well. Manoj Prabhakar has too made highlights by applying for the job. He had worked as Delhi’s coach in the past and was later sacked before the start of Delhi’s Ranji campaign in 2011/12. He was with Uttar Pradesh in the previous season before he quit his job there.
Last but not the least, the name of Sumit Narwal is also an interesting one. He announced his retirement just a few months ago and had played with almost every player in the Delhi side at present. It will be interesting to see whether he gets the job. It was last Vijay Dhiya who announced his first-class retirement in one season and went on to coach Delhi team to a Ranji Trophy victory in the very next season.

Meanwhile, Rajkumar Sharma, the childhood coach of Virat Kohli has also sent out his application for a post in the junior team.
The final announcement regarding all the appointments will be made official on August 21, after Cricket Affairs Committee of DDCA interviews all the candidates in the fray.
