It was the finals of the Tri Series and against all the odds before the series started, England did well to reach the finals but only to make it a one sided affair.

England won the toss and decided to field first and had a decen start to their final’s campaign. They restricted Australia to  60 for the loss of 4 wickets and all the main guns of the series were sent back to the pavilion. Warner, Finch, Smith all failed in the final. But, Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh had other ideas . They just not took them out of the trouble but also laid a platform for the lower order to give it a go. Maxwell missed on a century after he was dismissed on 95 much in the Maxwell style. Marsh went out for 60. Maxwell initially took sometime to settle down and then unleashed himself. Faulkner then gave the late impetus to the batting , blasting an unbeaten 50 of just 24 balls. Australia managed 278 runs in their 50 overs.

Chris Woakes had an off day with the ball, giving away 89 runs in his full quota of 10 overs. Stuart Broad too looked lack lustured, even though he picked up 3 wickets.  James Anderson was the pick of the bowlers from vistor’s side.

For England to win the match, it had to be a record run chase. And they could not have made things worse for them, losing the first wicket when the score was just 18. Jose Hazzlewood got inform Ian Bell with a beauty outside the off stump.

Wickets then fell regularly, England were never in the game. Johnson blew away the top order and Faulkner was lucky to get Joe Root with a one that never deserved a wicket. Bopara and Butler then looked comfortable for sometime and England seemed to have some chances of coming back but then came then the Maxwell show, with the ball this time. He picked 4 wickets and like the way he missed a century earlier, he was unlucky to miss out on a 5-for.

Engalnd were dismissed for 166 and Australia wont the match by 112 runs.M axwell was ajudged the “Man of the Match,” while Mithcell Starc was awarded Man of the series.
