That nothing can make an Australia miss the all-important Ashes is once again evident after batting legend Matthew Hayden replied to a fan who asked him why was he in India instead of enjoying the ongoing iconic series at home.
The set of tweets began when Hayden took to Twitter to wish his former Chennai Super Kings teammate Ravichandran Ashwin after the latter broke Dennis Lillee’s record to become the quickest to take 300 Test wickets.
“Congratulations @ashwinravi99 on joining the illustrious 300 Club @ChennaiIPL #Whistlepodu forever ❤️?@BCCI @StarSportsIndia.”

Ashwin achieved the feat during the second Test against Sri Lanka in Nagpur which India won by an innings and 239 runs. The off-spinner picked up eight wickets in the game, the last one being his 300th scalp which made him the quickest to achieve the feat. Ashwin reached the milestone in 54 games compared to Lillee’s 56 games.
Meanwhile, a fan soon asked Hayden, who is a part of Star Sports’ commentary panel for the ongoing India-Sri Lanka, why was he giving the Ashes a miss.
“Why do you want to miss The Ashes and be here, Champion???,” the fan asked the legendary opener.

In reply, Hayden made it clear that he never misses the series and also added a funny twist to his reply writing:
“Never miss the Ashes…..the Ashes just miss me hahahahaha???”

Well, one cannot say that the Ashes do not miss Hayden. The southpaw is one of the greatest openers the game has ever seen. Just like enjoying a stellar international career, he also had a good outing against England. Overall, he played 20 Ashes Tests, scoring 1461 runs at an excellent average of over 45 including five centuries and a couple of half-centuries.
Meanwhile, Ashwin soon replied to Hayden’s tweet, writing:
“Thank you so much Haydos!”
