Wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Wade has been deemed fit by Australia and has joined the squad for the practice session in Dubai. In all likeliness, Wade is expected to play the tour match in Mumbai next week ahead of the four-Test series, which starts in Pune on February 23.
Matthew Wade, 29, sustained a back injury before the first ODI of Chappell-Hadlee against hosts New Zealand and was also ruled out of three-match series. Prior to that, he was announced as Australia’s captain in absence of Steven Smith and but unfortunately couldn’t pursue the responsibility.
However, the left-handed batsman isn’t in fray for Australia’s intra-squad match at the ICC headquarters in the UAE.
This would be Wade’s second outing in India after the one in 2013, where he scored 113 runs in three matches at an average of 18.83.
Meanwhile, attacking batsman Chris Lynn has been ruled out of upcoming three T20Is against Sri Lanka. Lynn, who was also included in the ODI squad for Pakistan series, could only play one game before getting sidelined due to a neck injury.
Ben Dunk, who was BBL’s highest run-scorer this season, has been named as his replacement.
