Matthew Wade stresses on his match winning abilities

Ever since former Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin bid adieu to international cricket, the Kangaroos have tried quite a few options behind the stumps. The wicketkeeping slot has been a tug of war between limited overs wicketkeeper Matthew Wade and test wicketkeeper Peter Nevill. The Australian selectors surprised everyone earlier this year when Nevill was chosen for the World T20 squad ahead of Wade.

Wade, who currently is with the side in St. Kitts, in a recent interaction, stated that he had all the skills necessary for a match winner. Wade, who made his ODI debut in early 2012 against India at Melbourne, has often been inconsistent and hasn’t found a regular spot in the playing XI. After the retirement of Brad Haddin, Wade played a few crucial knocks against England in the ODI series to seal his spot.

“I feel like in the one-day game I’ve got the ability to win games with the bat,” Wade said. “I think you need a little bit more balance – keeping and batting – in one-day cricket.”I’m the man for the job. “I’ve been in the one-day team consistently since the end of the 2015 World Cup, so I feel like I’ve had a good amount of games to back it up and feel comfortable.”

Wade, however, clarified that he wasn’t hurt when the selectors chose an inexperienced Peter Nevill ahead of him for the World T20 in India. “They went with the best keeper in the country,” Wade said. “That is Peter Nevill at the moment. We all know that that is why he’s the Test keeper. “I was pretty comfortable with that selection.”
