Karnataka batsman Mayank Agarwal is happy with his progress despite not getting the national call-up. Agarwal was once again overlooked for the final two Test matches.
The right-hander has performed brilliantly in the domestic circuit. Mayank had scored 1160 runs in 13 innings of the Ranji Trophy season of 2017-18 whereas he scored 723 runs in the eight innings of the Vijay Trophy.
Mayank Agarwal is in the form of his life.
Meanwhile, Agarwal also had a fine tour of England with India A side. He recently scored a fine double hundred against South Africa A. Furthermore, the talisman scored another century against India A while playing for India B in the Quadrangular series.
“I think I am very happy with the progress. I am very happy with the way I am batting. I am in a great mind space and I want to continue batting and scoring runs,” Agarwal told Firstpost.
“Scoring 2000 runs in a domestic season is not a joke. I am very, very happy with the way I am batting. Yes, I did not have a good IPL. I have to look at my performances as a whole season and not just one tournament. I cannot say that I need to do well only in this tournament. I understand that I have not done well in IPL but if I have to look at whole year, I think I am batting extremely well,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal scored two centuries for India A side in the One-Day series in England. The right-hander said it was a great exposure for him to play with the Dukes ball in the English conditions.
“I think it was a fantastic tournament, we got to learn a lot. It was a great experience to play in England for the first time. In fact, it was great to play for the first time against the Dukes balls in English conditions. It gave us great exposure,” Agarwal said.
Mayank Agarwal is doing a fine job in focussing his energy on his game. In fact, the way he is playing at the moment, the national call-up isn’t far away. Agarwal will look to keep doing the good work.
