Mayank Agarwal is a Step Away from National Call-up – MSK Prasad
Team India’s chief selector MSK Prasad has revealed Mayank Agarwal is a step away from the national call-up. Agarwal is one of the most prolific performers in the domestic circuit. Furthermore, the Karnataka batsman has performed consistently for India A side.
In fact, Mayank Agarwal scored 236 runs in the recently concluded Quadrangular series while playing for the India B side. Agarwal had scored more than a thousand runs while playing in the previous Ranji Trophy season.
Thus, MSK Prasad said Mayank Agarwal will get his chance in the upcoming series when they will hand rest to some senior players.
“Mayank has been fantastic and has been performing consistently in the last the last 10-12 months time,” said Prasad. “He is just a step way and I’m sure in due course I’m sure he will get his recognition. He did well in all three formats in whatever opportunities he got in domestic cricket and for India A. We will definitely look at him when we rest some of those senior cricketers.”
Furthermore, Mayank Agarwal scored more than 700 runs in the Vijay Hazare trophy. The Karnataka batsman was also among the runs on India A tour of England.
Meanwhile, Agarwal also scored a double hundred while playing against South Africa A. However, the right-hander was once again overlooked in the Indian side, which is a tad unfair on him.
On the other hand, Asia Cup will begin from 15 September in the UAE. India is the defending champions and would like to do well. Meanwhile, Indian skipper Virat Kohli is rested and Rohit Sharma will hold the captaincy reins for the team.
