The managing committee of Mumbai cricket Association (MCA) is scheduled to meet on Sunday to discuss about the Supreme Court judgement over Lodha Committee’s recommendations for the cricket boards in India.
The decision had a huge impact on MCA which is one of the biggest boards in entire nation. The current president, Sharad Pawar will be ineligible to be on the board as he is above 70 besides serving the board for nine years.
Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar who is currently the vice president of the board will also be ineligible due to the fact that he has completed nine years on the board in two stints.
Current Joint Secretary PV Shetty and Treasurer Nitin Dalal have also become ineligible along with a few other committee members, according to MCA sources which leads to huge effect on the board.
According to Lodha committee’s recommendations no person should hold the office after being office-bearer for nine years or if he is more than 70 years or if he is a Minister or government servant or holds any post of another sports body in the country.
The Supreme Court’s decision in favour of`one state one vote’ is also going to have a huge impact on the board as Maharastra has MCA along with Maharashtra CA, Vidarbha CA and the Cricket Club of India. This meant that the four boards have to use the vote on rotational basis which will have a huge impact on their control over the country’s cricketing decisions.
Sharad Pawar will also address the media once the meeting is completed on Sunday, as per an intimation received from MCA.
