The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) elections which were slated to be held on November 10 have been postponed to an indefinite date as per reports surfacing in the media on Monday. Sources close to the MCA stated the fact that the elections scheduled for November 10 have been postponed and the new date for the same will be decided only after Supreme Court gives its order on implementing the Lodha Committee Reforms.
The Order from the Supreme Court is expected to come by October 30. During the last MCA polls held in the year 2015. NCP Chief and former Union Minister Sharad Pawar were elected as the President of Mumbai Cricket Association. The recommendations which were implied by the Lodha Committee prevented any person above the age of 70 from being an office bearer of a cricket association, and that was the reason why Pawar resigned from his post, and the vacant spot was taken by BJP Chief of Mumbai Ashish Shelar.
Meanwhile, the Men in Blue are all set to play Australia in the 2nd T20I slated for later in the day, and they will be hoping to clinch the trophy with a match to spare. A victory today will not only give them a series victory but will also allow the management to test out some of the bench players who haven’t got enough chance in the limited overs series so far.
In the opening rain curtailed T20I in Ranchi, it was again the Indian bowlers who did the job for Virat Kohli. The hosts took wickets at regular intervals and never allowed the Aussies to get going. Kuldeep Yadav yet again proved his worth and bagged the Man of the Match Award for his exceptional spell of 2/16 in 4 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah also bagged a couple as India restricted the Aussies to 118/8 in 18.4 overs when rain halted play for a long time. When India did come out to bat, they were set a target of 48 in 6 overs. The hosts lost Rohit Sharma in their chase, but Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan ensured they reached the target with utmost ease in the end.
