The Marylebone Cricket Club has inducted young England batsman Haseeb Hameed and Ben Duckett in their playing XI for the annual four-day game against Middlesex in March before the start of English County 2017 season.
Sam Northeast, who plays for Kent, has been named as the captain of the MCC.
“Having worked closely with the England selectors to assemble this group, I am very pleased with the fantastic talent we have at our disposal,” the president of MCC Cricket John Stephenson said in a club statement.
The rookies made their Test debut during England’s tour of Bangladesh followed by India.
“Haseeb Hameed, Joe Clarke and Ben Duckett are three of the most exciting young batsmen in the country at the moment, and I’m looking forward to seeing them,” he added.
The 20-year-old Haseeb, who sustained a finger injury in the second Test in Visakhapatnam against India, is gearing up for the county season with Lancashire.
“We’ve also selected a youthful and varied bowling attack which I’m sure will pose problems for the Middlesex batsmen,” he concluded.
However, the 22-year-old Duckett and Haseeb will also be a part of England Lions’ side for the one-day and four-day series in February and March against Sri Lanka A.
The MCC side has England Lions’ Tom Alsop, Lewis Gregory and Joe Clarke.
Wicket-keeper batsman Worcestershire Ben Cox and all-rounder from Kent Matt Coles followed by leg-spinner Mason Crane and Yorkshire fast-bowler Matt Fisher with Jack Leach from Somerset complete MCC’s XI.
The four-day match of the will be played with Pink Ball on March 26 in Abu Dhabi.
The Twenty20 tournament is scheduled from March 24, which includes four English first-class teams featuring MCC.
The four-day game is termer as a ‘curtain-raiser’ for the 2017 English season. Last year, MCC beat English County Champions Yorkshire by four wickets.
Middlesex will feature in the tournament for the first time after emerging as the 2016 County Champions in 2016.
