Former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has praised Mehidy Hasan Miraz, a versatile all-rounder, calling him a ‘complete package’ and an ‘unsung hero’ of Bangladesh cricket. The all-rounder has impressed everyone with his valuable contributions to the team in all three formats of the game.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz is a talented all-rounder who adds an exciting dimension to the Bangladesh cricket team’s batting lineup. He has the ability to make significant contributions with both his bat and ball. Miraz’s spin-bowling prowess and impressive batting skills make him a valuable asset in the ODI format.
According to Mashrafe Mortaza, Mehidy has shown great flexibility in his batting abilities and can fill in as a backup opener for Litton Das and Tanzid Tamim, which would help the team in the upcoming World Cup in India. Last year, Mehidy became one of only two players to score an ODI century while batting at No.8 or lower, which is a testament to his talent and dedication.
“Litton and Tanzid Tamim are the two specialist openers. In my opinion, they will play as the openers with Miraz being the makeshift option. Shanto will play at No.3. Miraz is an unsung hero of this team as he has scored runs in any position he has batted in.
“Litton and Tanzid don’t necessarily have to perform in every match. If they can shuffle and play their best cricket in four to five matches, it will help the team immensely,” Mashrafe Mortaza said.
Mehidy showcased his impressive skills as an opener, having recently scored a century against Afghanistan during the Asia Cup 2023. During the World Cup 2023 warm-up game against Sri Lanka, held at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Mehidy remained unbeaten with a score of 67.
The Management Could Send Tanzid Hasan Tamim To Open Against Afghanistan – Mashrafe Mortaza
Mashrafe Mortaza believes that Tanzid Hasan Tamim has done well as an opener in the opportunities given to him. He thinks that Tamim will get the chance to open against Afghanistan and urges the batters to maintain their form, especially on flat wickets in India.
“Tanzid has played well as an opener in the recent past and handled spin well against the Afghans. Hence, the management could send him to open against Afghanistan. The top order will be challenged overall, but given the flat wickets in India, if the batters can carry on after good starts, it will help the team.”
“Mehidy is a complete package as the management trusts him to bat at any position and he bowls 10 overs. And it’s not in the last two to three months; it has been over the last two years,” Mashrafe Mortaza concluded.
Mehidy Hasan’s performance has caught the attention of the team management, who are now considering the possibility of sending him to the top of the order, especially in Indian conditions Bangladesh all-rounder would be crucial for the team with the ball as well in Sub-continental conditions.
