Robert-Samuels

  1. Skipping the 90’s:

Over the years, a batsman playing in the 90’s was said to be shaky as he will be thinking about getting to the three digit landmark and bowlers felt that they could get a wicket in such a state.

But New Zealand batsman Robert Samuels took the shortcut to the landmark in his debut game against India. In a Test Match between West Indies and New Zealand in 1995 at Antigua, Samuels, who opened the innings for the West Indies stood tall alongside Adams to reach his maiden test century.

On this very day, he lofted a ball from Dipak Patel straight into the stands before celebrating his first and only century in his 6-match test career.
