Michael Vaughan mocks Virat Kohli as India crashes out of the World Cup
Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has been quite vocal on the internet of late. At the start of the tournament, ICC had posted a picture of Virat Kohli sitting in a throne with a crown on his head. It was a tribute from the ICC to the Indian skipper, who has hit 41 ODI tons so far in his career.
Vaughan didn’t hold back after India’s defeat
Vaughan though wasn’t impressed with the particular gesture. He questioned ICC’s double standards. ICC in return shared a run-scoring chart that had Kohli at the top. Post India’s shocking loss to New Zealand in the semi-finals, Vaughan was quick to troll the Indian captain. He posted a photoshopped picture of Kohli with a boarding ticket in hand- mocking fun at India’s defeat.
It didn’t go too well with the fans as they questioned Vaughan’s professionalism. The English commentator has been in news for all the wrong reasons. He was recently blocked by former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar before having a heated exchange of tweets with cricketer Jonny Bairstow.
Virat Kohli on India’s loss
The Indian skipper didn’t react to Vaughan’s poke, but he did address the media and reflected on the loss. “The way they came out and bowled in that first half-an-hour was the difference in the game. With the new ball they were outstanding with the areas that they hit. It made life very difficult.” he said.
“I thought Jadeja had an outstanding game; the way he played today was a great sign for his skillsets and what he can do for the team. It always feels disappointing when you” ve played good cricket and 45 minutes of bad cricket puts you out of the tournament. ‘It’s difficult to accept and to come to terms with but New Zealand deserve it because they put enough pressure on us and were sharper when it came to the crunch moments,” he added.
