Michael Vaughan Slams BCCI For Losing Anil Kumble As Coach

Just ahead of India’s 5 ODI and one T20I tour of West Indies, the men in blue were in for some shocking news when head coach Anil Kumble announced his resignation. Even though Kumble’s contract was valid only till the end of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, it was understood that he would carry on atleast till the tour of the Caribbean. Now however, the former leg spinner shocked everyone by announcing his decision to not continue as the head coach.
This means that now the Indian team will travel to face the Windies without a head coach, and in all probability, batting coach Sanjay Bangar will temporarily take over as the coach. The main headache now lies for the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising of former greats Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. The trio will have to now choose a new coach for the side keeping in mind the 2019 World Cup.
Once Kumble’s decision became public, former England captain Michael Vaughan sternly reacted, by slamming the BCCI for not having Kumble for a longer span. In a tweet, Vaughan expressed his displeasure.
India are losing a Great man in @anilkumble1074 … realty hope he stays in some role …. far too good a bloke to lose … #India

“While the Cricket Advisory Committee had endorsed an extension to his tenure as head coach, Mr Anil Kumble has decided not to continue as the coach,” the BCCI mentioned in an official statement. “The CAC is likely to have told BCCI that the differences were not cricketing related but more of a personal nature,” it said. “If he were to stick on, it would be very awkward on Anil’s part. It is not good to handle someone as big as Anil in this manner.”
