Former Australia cricketer, Mike Hussey has urged fans not write off a champion like MS Dhoni despite his poor show in the recently concluded England series.
Meanwhile, Hussey had worked with Dhoni with years now in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) set up. Previously, he represented CSK and then took up the batting coach’s role post-retirement.
MS Dhoni was the receiving end of an array of criticism for his slow innings against England. MS Dhoni failed to score quick runs, as India went down in the ODI series 2-1.

However, Mike Hussey feels it was not right to criticise Dhoni, as it was just a matter of two matches.
“It’s just two innings, come on! We know how MS plays; he takes some time in the middle. He has got the power to catch up in the end. Dhoni plays according to the situation. I wouldn’t be reading too much into it,” Hussey said to TOI.
MS Dhoni has time and again proved his ability in the white-ball cricket. Recently, he led Chennai Super Kings in the IPL towards the victory and was scintillating with the bat as well.

The 95 Tests and 300 plus ODIs veteran, Dhoni offers the much-needed experience to this Indian team. Furthermore, skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri have backed the wicket-keeper batsman.
Mike Hussey has urged not to write off a champion player like Dhoni saying he will be key in the World Cup next year.
Moreover, MS Dhoni has three ICC title behind his name, and his understanding of the game will immensely benefit Virat Kohli.
“He has been a great player for such a long time and his experience will play a crucial role in the upcoming World Cup, especially, his keeping skills and his power at the end of the innings. You should never write off a champion player,” Hussey concluded.
