Misbah-Ul-Haq Clarifies His Stance Over 1999’s Pakistan Side 1

After receiving the recent drubbing from Australia in a 3-match Test series by 3-0, Test skipper Misbah-Ul-Haq took to micro-blogging site Twitter to clarify his recent statement on Pakistan’s 1999 national side which was led by former star bowler Wasim Akram for Australia tour.

The 42-year-old middle-order batsman Misbah had to clarify his statement after drawing flak over his remarks. He has stated that he has no intention to hurt and mock his seniors following the recent Sydney Test defeat.

Misbah has shown great regard for the Pakistan’s 1999 team which also received a 3-0 hammering in the Test Down Under.

While making it clear, Misbah said he isn’t considering it any kind of an excuse by discussing the former team’s performance.

Misbah, who faced severe criticism over team poor performance in Australia, was asked a question in a press conference by Mazhar Arshad, a statistician and journalist from Pakistan after Sydney loss whether current team is the best which had toured Australia.

Misbah believed Pakistan 1999’s team was the best in business and they are our legends.

“My reply was that 99 team was our best team. My aim wasn’t to disrespect them. I wasn’t trying to use them as an excuse. They’re our legends,” Misbah tweeted.

Misbah, who is considering his Test future has praised the 50-year-old Akram has stated that he had learned a lot after working alongside the Sultan of Swing.

Misbah has been a frontrunner for Pakistan cricket to help the national side to reach the top of a table in ICC Test Rankings for a brief period last year.

However, Misbah has struggled with a bat in the Series Down Under while scoring just 76 runs at an average of 12.66 in six innings.

Pakistan and Australia is scheduled to play five-match ODI series which will kickstart from January 13 at Gabba.
