Misbah-ul-Haq To Take A Call On Retirement After Pakistan Super League 1
Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has done enough to make a call on his career all by himself, says Mickey Arthur.

Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq will take a final decision on his retirement after Pakistan Super League, the 42-year-old right-handed batsman told ESPNcricinfo.

“The idea is to assess myself how badly I want to play cricket. I think in this one month I will make my decision to quit or at least give a certain date. I could easily have quit after England series in UAE [in November 2015] but that wasn’t the right way.”

“You sometimes don’t see your own achievements and personal gains,” he said. “You also have to think about the team you have built, you have to see where it stands at a certain stage.”

It was Misbah himself who first created a sensation when he hinted about retirement after a loss at the hands of Australia after the Melbourne Test last year. But soon he changed his mind and gave a different statement just two days after that.

It was under Misbah’s captaincy when Pakistan climbed to No. 1 spot in the Test rankings after the series between England and Pakistan ended in a 2-2 draw. But Pakistan’s fortunes took a U-turn as they went on to lose successive Test series against New Zealand and Australia.
