Mitchell Johnson has turned down the rumors which suggested that the former fast bowler will be returning to international cricket as he has said, “I don’t think that will ever happen,” Johnson told reporters.
“The ears prick up a little bit. But I’m happy playing this sort of format (domestically). It’s a lot more relaxed.
“I feel like there’s a bit more of that fun playing the Big Bash.
“When you go to that next level, there’s definitely something different. You really have to step up – I’m probably not up to that standard.
“There’s other guys there that are playing much better – AJ Tye for instance. He’s playing much-better cricket than I am,” Johnson said.
Mitchell Johnson, who retired from international cricket in 2015 before the pink-ball Test, was an asset for Australia during his playing days. Though, he was also dropped sometimes due to dip in form but he always made a strong comeback. The Ashes 2013/14 played in Australia was one of his best series where he made a comeback in the Test squad after being dropped.
His place in the team was questioned but Johnson hit back at his critics by claiming 37 wickets in five-match Ashes series.
He was right on the money as in the first Ashes Test at Brisbane, England were in a steady position at 81/2 before Mitc’HELL’ Johnson wrecked havoc as his devastating spell of bowling reduced the Poms to 91/8. It can be said that this spell from Johnson more or less decided the fate of the Ashes.
Johnson, though, has turned down comeback plans to international cricket but will continue to play T20 Leagues.
