Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh feels confident about doing consistently good at the number five spot, for the Kangaroos. Marsh scored an important 73 runs off 100 balls for Australia, getting them back on track after they lost their openers quickly. Australia set up a score of 294 through important knocks of Glenn Maxwell (77) and Mitchell Marsh(73).

However, England fell short of just 19 runs in the run chase, Sam Billings (118) and Jonny Bairstow (84) did not prove enough for the Three Lions to win the game.

Josh Hazlewood scalped three wickets and Adam Zampa got four wickets which proved the key for Austalia’s defence of the target. The Aussies, in the end, managed to win the match by 19 runs against the hosts England.

I don’t look up my stats too much but certainly, love this format: Mitchell Marsh

The Australian all-rounder feels confident about his form playing at the number 5 spot for Australia. He tells he doesn’t look at on his stats much but he absolutely loves the format. He thinks if he continues to give match-winning performances for the team his place automatically will open up.

“This format has certainly been the one I’ve been most consistent in. I take great confidence in that. I don’t look up my stats too much but certainly, love this format.

“I certainly know I’m being given this opportunity again, batting at number five is a role I’ve done for most of my career in one-day cricket and I certainly feel really confident I can play my role for the team there,” ESPNCricinfo quoted Marsh as saying.

“It’s not about me going out there and playing every game to try and cement my spot. It’s about playing to the best of my ability to make sure I’m contributing to wins for Australia. If you do that, your position in the team takes care of itself,” he added.

Mitchell Marsh believes partnership with Glenn Maxwell took them out of trouble

Australia were batting first and had lost the openers very quickly at a low score. The middle-order came in action to save them and Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell played a stupendous partnership to lift Australia. Marsh said Maxwell’s amazing innings took the pressure off him at various times.

“Yesterday I tried to take the situation out of it, the fact we’d lost a couple of wickets, and just try to take it as deep as possible.Glenn’s innings was amazing and really took the pressure off at times, allowed me to just keep batting.

“It would have been nice to capitalise at the end and get a few more but was rapt with the partnership I had with Maxi to get us into a really good position,” Marsh said.
