Mitchell Marsh is on his way to becoming the most prized asset of the Australian ODI side. The all-rounder has been in the tremendous form, off late, and his exploits have helped the Kangaroos colossally in the last few ODI’s. With the ball, Marsh was always an asset who could ably support the new ball bowlers and chip in with a couple of wickets at crucial moments.

However, it has been Marsh’s performance with the bat that has made headlines. Against India earlier this year, he scored a fine century in Sydney to make an impression. That was followed by a productive ODI series against New Zealand where he carried on the good work. The right-hander recently played a delightful knock against West Indies at Barbados in order to seal a tricky run chase.

Post his side’s win over the hosts, Marsh admitted that was eyeing a promotion in the batting order. “Any time you can bat through an innings and be not out in a win, and in a crucial chase like that, it’s very satisfying,” Marsh said. “Sometimes you miss out a few times and it’s really key not to get down, keep backing my skill.” “That’s what I’ve done. I’ve worked extremely hard in the nets in the past few days and it’s just nice to see it come off.”

Marsh added that he would be eager to get the number 5 position in the batting order from a long-term perspective. “Hopefully, I can really knuckle down and nail down No.5. I think it’s a great position for me to bat in one-day cricket,” Marsh said. “It gives me a lot of time to get into my innings and obviously the more balls I face, the easier it becomes at the end.”
