Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc is ecstatic after his younger brother Brandon Starc made the country proud by winning a gold medal in high jump at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast on Wednesday (April 11).
The 24-year high jumper, Brandon was the only athlete to jump over the 2.32-metre bar in a three-way fight and by doing so, he bagged the gold medal in the event.
Following this thumping win, Brandon’s brother Mitchell Starc who is one of the best fast bowlers in the world right now showered praises on his younger brother.
The Starc family has a high pedigree of sports with Mitchell Starc and his wife Alyssa Healy making the country proud in the field of cricket.
However, this time Mitchell Starc’s youngest brother Brendon has earned laurels for his country after winning a gold medal in the men’s high jump discipline.

Brendon has finally come out of the shadows of his elder brother after winning country’s first gold medal in the event since 1994 games held in Canada.
Brandon also tried his hands in cricket and football respectively before opting athletics.
He also spoke about his game and revealed how he played alongside Mitchell Starc when he was quite young.
“I don’t follow cricket. That’s my brother’s sport. I played when I was younger but naah that wasn’t mine. We played when we were younger in the backyard, that’s it. I used to try this (high jump) as a kid and then you just keep going. As you get older, you just train and then you win a gold medal,” Brandon said.
