Australia’s pack leader Mitchell Starc has taken the first step towards the recovery road when he turned out to play for New South Wales. Starc had suffered a bone stress injury in his right leg. Thus, Australia’s fiery fast bowler has been out of action.

He had missed out on the fourth Test match against South Africa. Furthermore, Starc had to miss the IPL, ODI series against England and Zimbabwe tour.

Mitchell Starc Returns to Competitive Cricket.

Starc featured in Intra-squad One-Day match at Blacktown. The southpaw fast bowler bowled six overs. However, he went wicketless and gave away 38 runs in his spell.

Thus, Starc wants himself to be match ready if he gets selected for the series against Pakistan set to be played in the UAE in October.

In fact, it was Starc’s first match after the controversial Cape Town Test match. Starc said he is trying to make a few changes to his action as well as the run-up.

“It’s only about the fourth bowl I’ve had to batsmen, so it’s a bit different out in the middle than in the nets,” Starc said on Tuesday.

“(I’m) trying to make a few changes to the action and the run-up, trying to find some rhythm through there and have a nice hit out in the middle with the Blues boys.”

Meanwhile, Australia A side will play two four day games in India. Thus, the Australian squad for the two-match Test series against Pakistan will be announced after the conclusion of the A team series.

Mitchell Starc said the recovery is on the right path as he is confident of making the cut into the side.

“There’s an Australia A tour over there where the guys are getting some time in the subcontinent. The guys in Australia are spending some time, like us, out in the middle today (Tuesday). The prep is going really well for everyone looking to put their hand up for that tour.”

There is no doubt Mitchell Starc holds the key for Australia especially in the absence of Steven Smith and David Warner. Starc will look to make a solid comeback.
