Riding on the sensational ten-wicket haul in the second Test against Australia, Pakistan fast-bowler Mohammad Abbas has jumped to a career-high third place in the latest Test rankings for bowlers, released by the ICC on Sunday (October 21).
Abbas starred with the ball as Pakistan thrashed Australia to win the game as well as the two-match series. In the first innings, he picked up 5 wickets for just 33 runs as Pakistan took a big 137-run lead. And after the batsmen helped Pakistan set up a mammoth 538-run target, he dismantled Australia by taking 5 for 62.

The latest performance has further enhanced Abbas’ stats in Tests where he has already taken 59 wickets in just 10 games. The right-arm pacer has already bagged four five-fors in Test cricket and this was his first 10-wicket haul in a match. And his career-best performance has helped him jump all the way from No.14 to No.3 with career-best rating points of 829.
He is now only behind James Anderson and Kagiso Rabada. Anderson is leading the list with 899 points while Rabada has 882 points.

Bilal Asif has also made significant gain in the rankings. After picking up nine wickets in the series, Bilal has moved to No. 52 by jumping 17 spots.
From the batsmen’s side, Fakhar Zaman, who made his debut in the second Test, is at No.68 after scoring 94 and 81 on his debut.

On the other hand, the Australian opener, Aaron Finch climbed 15 places to slot in at 59th position in the rankings. However, his teammates did not enjoy such outings in UAE and have consequently fallen in the rankings.
Usman Khawaja scored just 3 in the first innings and didn’t bat in the second after sustaining a meniscal tear that might require surgery. He had reached No.10 after his heroics in the first Test, but came down one spot after the Abu Dhabi Test. With just 14 runs in four innings, Shaun Marsh slipped down to 42nd.
