The young and fiery left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir has been in tremendous form after making a comeback to the Pakistan team serving a ban for five years. Notably, Amir was involved in a spot-fixing case in a match against England in 2010 along with his teammate Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif. However, Amir credited his senior teammate Shoaib Malik for helping him during the tough times.

Amir has been instrumental in Pakistan’s Champions Trophy victory by beating the defending champions India in the finals earlier this year. Amir removed the top order in the form of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Virat Kohli, who has been scoring the bulk of runs for India in that tournament in quick succession. Recently, Amir revealed he had a specific plan for Virat Kohli and the importance that wicket holds.

After Amir made his comeback, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed the senior pro, Malik to guide the troubled pacer. Talking about the relationship he shared with his mentor and teammate, the 25-year-old Amir remarked:

“You already know if there’s one man within the current Pakistan groups that I wish to take a look at and comply with, it’s Shoaib Bhai. I take a look at him and his character. He’s well-groomed, well-spoken now. He is aware of how you can communicate to juniors and seniors. He’s the one man who you can take a look at and wish to go on that path.”

The left-arm quickie further stated the comradeship that the current players in the Pakistan squad enjoy. He mentioned that the likes of Imad Wasim, Umar Amin, Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz and Amir himself have been playing together since the u-19 days.

“To be trustworthy, it has been superb and a really relaxed ambiance. We’re all fairly younger within the aspect and we’ve performed with one another at age ranges,” Amir signed off.
