Fresh from his heroics in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan pace spearhead continued his red-hot form in his debut game for Essex against Middlesex. Amir began the show in the best possible fashion, trapping Middlesex opener Nick Gubbins LBW in his very first over with a magnificent inswinging delivery.
Here is a clip of his first wicket with Essex:

The left-arm pacer was not done yet and returned to trap Middlesex’s wicketkeeper-batsman John Simpson to pile more misery on the batting side, as Essex bowled the visitors out for only 246. Amir finished his spell with two for 53 in 16 overs while off-spinner Simon Harmer starred with the ball, taking five for 77.
In reply, Essex were 106 for no loss at the end of the day with Alastair Cook batting on 64 and his partner Nick Browne not out on 40.
Landmark day for English cricket:
Monday was a watershed moment in the history of County Championship, as a full round of Championship fixtures began with a pink ball, as all 18 of the County teams played from 2 pm instead of the traditional 11 am. The first County Championship match under floodlights and with a pink ball was played in 2011 when Kent hosted Glamorgan at Canterbury.
The Championship witnessed another historic moment when 16-year-old Afghan-born spinner Hamidullah Qadri became the first player born in the 2000s to play Championship cricket. The spinner came out to play for Derbyshire against Glamorgan.
Mohammad Amir Continues His Revival In England:
Almost seven years after an 18-year-old Amir, alongside former Pakistan captain Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif, bowled no-balls to order and was subsequently jailed, the prodigious left-arm pacer is on his way to prove his doubters wrong.
He made his return to Test cricket at Lord’s last year but he seems to have taken around a year to get back to his devastating best. In the final of the Champions Trophy, he dismantled India’s in-form top-order with a fiery spell that put his team on the path to a historic victory and the 25-year old has started in the same manner in his debut county season.
