Mohammad Amir Takes A Dig At Ramiz Raja Saying That PCB Chairman Gets A Lot Of Benefits

Mohammad Amir, the former Pakistan pacer, has taken a dig at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja over his comments that he won’t take a single penny as salary during his tenure. Mohammad Amir retorted that the office of the PCB Chairman doesn’t entail salary but comes with plenty of benefits.

Ramiz Raja made a comment while addressing club presidents in Pakistan on Wednesday (October 20). Mohammad Amir then took to Twitter to point out that the post of PCB Chairman comes with benefits, though he wasn’t entirely sure if this was the case.

Mohammad Amir: PCB Chairman Gets A Lot Of Benefits Taking A Dig At Ramiz Raja

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja issued an indirect yet stern warning to the board’s officials drawing handsome salaries, saying that everyone will have to work to justify their positions. Ramiz Raja stressed on employees of the board to reduce expenses and save costs, adding that he had been told by the prime minister himself how he saves expenses at the Prime Minister House and the Prime Minister Office.

“To the extent I know, PCB Chairman is not paid a monthly salary but gets a lot of benefits. I may be wrong, but this is what I have heard,” Mohammad Amir tweeted.

In his address to club presidents, Ramiz Raja said that he had sacrificed a budding career to take up the post, and he did that for the honour.

“I have come to this cricket board without any salary. I won’t get a single penny for the next three years. I have sacrificed my ongoing career to take up this post. The car that I own is a 2008 model one. I don’t regret the fact that I don’t own a big house or a fancy car or money. Many a time, you need to play an innings for the honor.”

In his address to club presidents, Ramiz Raja mentioned that he doesn’t need the salary of a PCB Chairman and noted that he will serve for the next three years without taking it. However, he added that he feels the PCB chairman is an honourable position, and it should be the number one priority.

Mohammad Amir has been amid controversies throughout his career. Having made a comeback in 2016 after a lengthy ban for spot-fixing, Mohammad Amir called time on his career prematurely in December 2020. He cited differences with the Board and support staff as the reason for his decision.

Mohammad Amir Came Out Of Retirement After Coaches Misbah-ul-Haq And Waqar Younis Step Down

Earlier this year, however, the former left-arm pacer revealed that he was ready to come out of his retirement if the new PCB administration addressed all his concerns. However, there hasn’t been any further development in this regard. Mohammad Amir has represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is. He has 259 wickets to his name in international cricket.

The pacer played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is before announcing retirement. He represented Pakistan in 36 Tests and took 119 wickets at an average of 30.47. He also featured in 61 ODIs and claimed 81 wickets at an average of 29.62.

Mohammad Amir, the left-arm fast bowler, has decided to come out of international retirement. The 29-year-old pacer stunned the cricket world by announcing his international retirement last year. However, the pacer clarified that he made the big decision because of his issues with the team management.

After Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis stepped down from their posts, Mohammad Amir decided to make himself available for his country once again. Meanwhile, Pakistan will be taking part in the T20 Worldcup 2021 without the services of world-class fast bowler Mohammad Amir.
