In the death overs, the youngster Mohammad Hasnain recorded his T20I hat-trick. It was only his second T20I and already registered his name in the top record book. He managed this hat-trick in two overs.

Mohammad Hasnain started his hat-trick journey with the wicket of Rajapaksa. On the 15.6 overs, Hasnain trapped the international debutant for lbw. On his very next delivery on 18.1 overs, captain Dasun Shanaka (17 runs) was caught out at the deep long-on while Umar Akmal took that catch. On 27th October 2017, Faheem Ashraf claimed his T20I hat-trick against Sri Lanka at Abu Dhabi.

Mohammad Hasnain claimed this hat-trick at the age of 19 years and 183 days. Hasnain broke the previous record of Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan (20 years and 257 days) and became the youngest bowler to claim a T20I hat-trick. On 24th February 2019, Rashid Khan recorded that hat-trick against Ireland by claiming four wickets in four successive deliveries.

Mohammad Hasnain finished with the bowling figures of 4-0-37-3. His impressive bowling effort helped Pakistan to restrict the Sri Lankan team to 165/5 (20 overs). Leg-spinner Shadab Khan was the only other wicket-taker in that innings.
