Former Indian cricketer, Mohammad Kaif, expected the possibility of as many as eight Indian captains in the upcoming season of IPL.
With the ongoing Sandpaper Gate saga, Steve Smith lost his coveted position as captain in the Australian side as well as in the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals.
Meanwhile, the fate of David Warner, as the captain of the Sunrisers’ will rest on the impending decision to be taken by CA.
In recent developments from the IPL, Ajinkya Rahane is set to lead the side with the sacking of Smith as captain of the Royals.
If Sunrisers Hyderabad opts for the likes of Shikhar Dhawan or Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the IPL, for the first time, would witness all Indian captain in a particular edition.
“So Steve Smith is not going to captain Rajasthan Royals. Really interesting, a bit unexpected. Will David Warner too not captain Hyderabad. If it happens that way, we may have all 8 Indian Captains for the first time in IPL history,” tweeted Mohammad Kaif.

Kaif, an active personality on Twitter, has been following the infamous Sandpaper Gate since it unfolded on the 3rd day of the Cape Town test.
“This is a big big confession. It’s like, we as a team, with the leadership group, decided to cheat. Very very juvenile to do so with so many cameras. Will be interesting to see the implications,” tweeted Kaif earlier.

Interestingly, Kaif was one of the first few to spot foul play of Bancroft during the Cape Town Test.
“Oh no! Bancroft. Very embarrassing. From the looks of it, this is not on. Haven’t seen a series marred by controversies like this one in a long long time. The Cricket has been great, but this,” posted Mohammad Kaif, along with a snippet of the Sandpaper Gate.
