If you look out for the best fielders India has ever got, Mohammad Kaif’s name would flash out in everyone’s memory. He was one of the best athletes of his time on fields. His catches, dives and direct hits became part of talks during his playing days.
He was often a livewire and was one of the most energetic players to watch out for. Kaif wants to take up the job of being India’s fielding coach when and if given a chance.
No doubt Indian Cricket Team has got players who are very swift in the field like Virat, Rahane or Yuvraj Singh. But there are also a lot of players who aren’t and also there is lots of rooms of improvement in fielding for players like Ashwin, Umesh (to name few).
Kaif may have only featured in 13 Tests and 125 ODIs, but his name will forever be etched in the memory of an Indian cricket fan because of his match-winning knocks he had played.
Hope the selectors may lend an ear to his wish as getting Kaif on board would be helpful for the players. R. Sridhar has been the fielding coach for India for a long time.
Kaif recently had a stint with Gujarat Lions as an assistant coach.
