All-rounder Mohammad Nabi has completed his 100th one-day international with the Afghanistan Cricket Team when he takes on the field in the 2nd ODI against Ireland.
Meanwhile, he has been instrumental in the rise of Afghanistan’s cricket since making his debut in 2003. The all-rounder has emerged as a valuable player in the world with his off-spin and big hitting skills which perfectly suit the limited-overs formats.
Furthermore, this is also the 100th ODI match for Afghanistan. He made his ODI debut in Afghanistan’s maiden ODI game in 2009 against Scotland and featured in each game since then. As a result, Mohammed Nabi became the first player to feature in each of a country’s first 100 ODI matches.

No player before Nabi appeared in each of a country’s first 50 ODI matches. Kenya’s Steve Tikolo held the record in the past when he played in the first 49 ODI matches. Nabi is also only the 2nd player to feature in 100 ODI matches for his team since debut.
Overall, Mohammad Nabi is the 14th player to play in 100 consecutive ODIs at any point of their career for their country. Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene had two streaks of 100+ consecutive appearances for his team
Andy Flower was the first when he featured in 172 consecutive matches for Zimbabwe since his ODI debut in 1992. Andy’s 172-match streak stands 2nd in the list of most consecutive ODI appearances for their team.

However, Sachin Tendulkar leads the list with 185 consecutive games for India from April 1990 to April 1998. South Africa’s Hansie Cronje played consecutive 162 ODIs from 1993 to 2000.
