Mohammed Amir, the Pakistan new ball bowler, has inked a deal with Essex County Club for the second half of the English domestic season after completing his international assignments. He will be available for the club after the completion of Champions trophy which ends on June 17 and will then be available to participate in Specsavers County Championship and NatWest T20 Blast.
“We are thrilled that Mohammad has decided to join us for half of the 2017 campaign. He showed a real desire to be a part of the Club and the fact we have him for two competitions is a real bonus. He is still only young but has proved himself at International level already, so it is a real coup to get this signing completed ” said a thrilled Essex coach, Chris Silverwood,
Amir made his comeback in international cricket earlier this year after serving a ban of five years. He was the part Pakistan team during the T20 World Cup but could just scalp three wickets in four games at an economy rate of 7.86.
Recently in the series against West Indies, he missed some matches. He is the part of the Pakistan squad which is currently touring New Zealand to play 2 Test matches at Christchurch and Hamilton.
“I am very excited about becoming part of the Essex family,” Amir said.
“Chris Silverwood and Ronnie Irani have both been very supportive over the summer. I’m hoping I can carry on Essex’s success this season and achieve more for the club in 2017 ” added the fast bowler.
