The 27-year-old Shami wasn’t part of the Irani Cup squad. He has been on rest for a period of more than two weeks before he was to join the Delhi Daredevils’ camp.
However, as soon as he played the final of Dodhar Trophy, the very next day his wife brought allegations against him on March 7.
The same day BCCI announced the central contract for players and Shami’s name was dropped at the eleventh hour.
As per the reports, his name was there on the central contract list. But was dropped as soon as the case came into limelight.
BCCI asked its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) to look into the charges of fixing after Shami’s wife Hasin made a massive claim before the media.
There were doubts over the participation of Shami in IPL as well.
However, a few days back, Shami was cleared of any fixing charge and BCCI handed him Grade B contract, which will see him earning a salary of INR 3 Crore per annum.
BCCI’s clean chit also made him eligible to feature in the eleventh edition of IPL.
Delhi Daredevils’ officials were quite happy after Shami was cleared of any fixing charge. BCCI had a clear stand over Shami’s case after a thorough investigation by ACU’s top-brass Neeraj Kumar.
As per the board, it was waiting for Shami to come clean on fixing charges and the board did not have anything to do with his personal life.
