India fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, whose family is going through a very tough time right now, has suffered a huge loss as his father, Touseef Shami has passed away.
Earlier this month, the 26-year old took to Twitter to reveal that his father had been hospitalised on January 5 after suffering a heart attack. The bowler, who was undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, had to leave the academy to be with his ailing father.

But unfortunately, his father has now lost his battle for life. The news was confirmed by the Facebook page of Bengal Ranji Team.
It is a huge setback for Shami’s family which has been facing some turbulent time in the last one month or so. Shami was severely criticised by some religious fanatics after he posted a picture with his wife in a sleeveless dress on Facebook. He was even reminded of his religion, with some even asking why his wife was not wearing a hijab. The bowler later took to Twitter to hit back at the critics and his father too slammed the fanatics by accusing them of harassing his son.
Meanwhile, the fast bowler has been asked to join the Indian team in order to speed up his recovery from the knee injury. Shami is a vital part of the Indian Test team and with the four-match series against Australia on the horizon, the team will be desperate to have him back as soon as possible.
