The Amroha-born 26-year-old Shami, who is in Sri Lanka now with his teammates for the series, had received the backlash over micro-blogging website Twitter on Tuesday while celebrating the birthday of his two-year-old daughter Aairah Shami alongside his wife Hasin Jahan, who according to the social media users failed to cover her head.

“He has uploaded some pictures. It is his mindset. He must have uploaded the picture after due thinking,” Siddique was quoted as saying by ANI.

However, while responding to the moral police, Siddique revealed it’s the way of perceiving of things from the people which according to him is totally wrong after he has been the witness to vitriol from the fanatics.

“I don’t think it is wrong even according to Shariat (Islamic Law), in fact the people talking about it are wrong. The mindset of people are wrong. If they are making such statements then it is wrong,” Siddique further added.

The collage on the official Twitter handle of Shami revealed the family of three celebrating the birthday bash of their only child with a great fervour.

Some of the users crossed the mark by stating Shami’s wife has committed a sin by not opting for a cloak (hijab) while celebrating daughter’s birthday which they termed as a un-Islamic sign from the duo.

“What’s wrong in that I don’t understand. What’s wrong she is wearing? There is nothing wrong with the photo he has posted on Facebook,” Siddique remarked.

However, backing the post of his nephew, Siddique revealed that Shami has travelled across the globe and knows what is better and best for him and his family in particular. While adding such comments should not be passed regarding what Shami has posted for his daughter two days back.

“He travels around the world. He knows about the world. No person should make any comment about the same,” Siddique maintained.

Shami has featured in 49 One-day Internationals, 22 Tests and seven Twenty20 Internationals.
