Mohit Ahlawat Names Mahendra Singh Dhoni As His Role Model
Delhi youngster Mohit Ahlawat has named India batting star Mahendra Singh Dhoni as his role model.
The 21-year-old has created quite a buzz after scoring an astonishing unbeaten 300 off just 72 balls in a T20 match. He achieved this incredible feat in a local T20 tournament at Delhi’s Lalita Park, playing for Maavi XI against Friend’s XI. The monumental knock was studded with 14 fours and a mind-boggling 39 sixes, five of which came from the last five balls of the innings.
Speaking about his innings, Ahlawat told ANI:
“When I went on to bat, I did not think about creating any record. During the course of my innings, my body got charged up and automatically I started batting well. I was playing normal cricket shots.”
“I follow Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his mindset,” he added.
The sensational innings has also helped him get a call-up from IPL team Delhi Daredevils for a trial.
When asked about his future goals, Ahlawat said:
“I would like to grab a spot in Ranji Trophy. I lost the spot last year. So, that is for now my goal.”
The 21-year old wicketkeeper-batsman, who made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2015, had managed just five runs in 3 matches before making way for Rishabh Pant, who has cemented his spot in the team.
“As I said, I am more focussed on doing my bit, giving my 100 per cent every time I play. I want to play good cricket and I think by doing that I can get selected in IPL, and play for India in Test matches and ODIs,” he added.
The latest batting sensation further named South Africa star AB de Villiers when asked about his overseas role model.
