The former Test captain and the current chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket team, Moin Khan will be released from his duties as the chief selector after the ICC World Cup, 2015 irrespective of the performance of the Pakistan team in the World Cup.

According to a source in the Pakistan Cricket Board, it is reported that Moin has been told that his services are no longer required as the chief selector when he met with the PCB chairman recently after returning to Pakistan from the World Cup.

The source has also said that Moin will be released from his duties after the World Cup is done and Shaharyar Khan has already informed his associates to start interviewing suitable candidates for the new selection committee.

The source also added that before Shaharyar left for India in the last week, he passed on the instructions to start the process of shortlisting candidates for the position of the chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket team.

Also, it has been reported that former Pakistani stars like Wasim Bari and Mohsin Khan are in the run to replace Moin Khan as the chief selector.

Moin Khan was immediately called back home from New Zealand by the Pakistan Cricket Board after it was disclosed that Moin had visited a Casino in Christchurch just a day prior to Pakistan’s match against West Indies in which Pakistan lost by 150 runs.

Moin, however defended himself by saying that he went to the Casino not to gamble but to have dinner with his friends.

Also, a statement was issued by PCB after Shaharyar’s meeting with Moin Khan and it was said that the board was entirely satisfied with Moin’s explanation and as a result of which the matters were closed.

Moin had been sent to Australia and New Zealand as it was insisted by the former PCB chairman, Najam Sethi.

Interestingly and quite co-incidentally, while Moin was with the team, Pakistan lost two ODIs in New Zealand and then they lost the opening two matches of the World Cup to India and to West Indies.

Since his return to home, Pakistan has been in winning ways and they managed to beat Zimbabwe, UAE and South Africa on a trot.

Moin Khan has avoided to speak to media since his return to Pakistan and has remained out of sight mostly.
