Moin-Ud-Dowlah Gold Cup 2017: Naman Ojha Stars For Air India with Splendid Century
In one of the third-round matches of 50-over Moin-ud-Dowlah Gold Cup 2017 competition, the 34-year-old top-order batsman Naman Ojha has smashed a magnificent unbeaten 165 against Hyderabad President XI – to help his side win a game by 17 runs through VJD method (V Jayadevan), which has been interestingly devised for rain interrupted games by an engineer based-out in Kerala.
Earlier, batting first Hyderabad President XI witnessed four fifties from their batsmen which eventually helped the side to post 284 for seven.
However, Ojha’s stroke-filled triple-figure mark helped the Air India to clinch the game in 45.1 overs which further saw overlooked batsman Suresh Raina scoring vital 32 runs.

He has also featured in two Twenty20 Internationals after making his Ranji debut in 2000-01 for Madhya Pradesh.
On the other side, For HCA President’s XI, Yathin Reddy was the top-scorer with 67, followed by Buddhi Rahul, who smashed 60 and Amol Shinde registered 58 owing to the decent total as a target for the visitors.
In an another game at Gymkhana Cricket Ground, the hosts Hyderabad Cricket Association XI’s (HCA XI) opening batsman Tanmay Agarwal blasted a brilliant century to help his side — to clinch a massive win over Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
The left-handed rookie scored 127-ball 131, as his innings included five fours and five sixes that helped his side to post 354 in 50 allotted overs.
Batting first, the 22-year-old Tanmay alongside P. Akshath forged a 148-run stand for the first wicket in 27 overs which further helped the middle order to score heavily against the visitors.
Akshath, who was undone by spinner Akshay Wakare scored 80 off 86 balls which included seven boundaries and a solitary six.
While coming to chase down the daunting task, the CAG side was bundled out for 191 after slow bowling brilliance from the left-arm orthodox spinner Syed Mehdi Hasan, who picked three wickets after conceding 26 runs.
On the other side, the fast bowlers in the form of Chama Milind and Muddasir Hussain bagged two wickets each to pile-up miseries for the CAG side.
In other games, Andhra Colts thrashed Vidarbha CA which was bundled out at the paltry score of 125, after Colts posted 207 in 48.2 overs.
The fast bowler S.K. Kamranuddin bagged six wickets after conceding 29 runs which handed the 82-run win to Colts.
Moreover, Kerala CA thump Combined Districts after posting 278 for eight in 50 overs. The Combine Districts’ innings was wrapped on 97 in 36 overs.
While national selectors are constantly seen, showing clear signals to find former skipper’s replacement in case he fails to deliver, this knock from Naman Ojha certainly puts him in contention for a recall in the limited overs format.
