Mominul Haque has a new responsibility to lead the team in the Test series against India. The team will play the first Test match from 14th November in Indore. The two-match Test series is also a new challenge for both the teams. Bangladesh and India will play their first day-night Test match during the last Test of this series at Eden Gardens (Kolkata).
Both Bangladesh and India have no experience of playing pink-ball cricket. Bangladesh new Test captain, Mominul Haque, opines that the new challenge is an opportunity for everyone. He said that he can not remark on the pink ball’s nature as he doesn’t have experience in playing with the ball.

“It will be a challenge and it will be an opportunity for everyone. We practised with the pink ball in Dhaka, but we haven’t practised with the pink ball ever since coming here. Between the first and second Test, we will get time to prepare for the pink-ball Test. I do not have any experience with the pink ball, so I do not know how much it swings and moves. I do not think it would be a problem. It will be an opportunity as we do not know when we will play with the pink next,” Mominul said.
Captaincy is an opportunity for Mominul Haque
The team is not playing with his experienced regular captain Shakib Al Hassan. Shakib has been banned by ICC for not reporting the corrupt approach to ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). He will not be seen in the cricket field for at least one year. His absence has given chance to Mominul Haque to lead the team in Test series against the hosts India.

Mominul Haque has played 36 Test matches and scored 2,613 runs at an average of 41.47. He didn’t feel the captaincy as the burden to him rather it will make him more responsible. He takes it as an opportunity to showcase his talent.

“I do not think, being the captain will change my batting style. I will apply the same composure I did earlier and will bat in the same manner. Being a captain will help me become more responsible and it will further improve my cricketing knowledge. As a captain, it is a good opportunity for me to showcase my skills. It will be all about adjusting the mental aspect of the game,” Mominul told reporters.

“Playing a full-fledged Test series against India will provide us with a good opportunity. We all are excited for the challenge that awaits us. We will try to play good cricket. The team management has not decided yet, so I do not know what the composition of our site will be for the first Test. I think it would be a good wicket for batting,” Mominul said.
