England spinner Monty Panesar has credited Virat Kohli for increasing awareness of fitness in the Indian team. He also praised the Indian skipper’s effort for taking Indian team to great heights. Panesar is impressed with team India’s performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and in the Test form.

Under the guidance of Virat Kohli, the Indian team has maintained the top spot in the Test ranking. Kohli himself is on the No.1 spot in the ICC Test and ODI batting ranking. He regained the no.1 Test ranking position after dethroning Australian cricketer Steve Smith from the top spot. Panesar, who didn’t stop praising Kohli, said that it is a difficult task to beat India in the home.

“It’s very difficult to beat Virat’s team in India. And I saw in the last Test match that it was all seamers taking the wickets. Like England, seamers were bowling most of the session and spinners were bowling maybe one over before Lunch. He has really changed the dynamics of the Indian team,” he said.

I love Virat Kohli’s discipline with fitness – Monty Panesar

The young cricketers follow Virat Kohli’s fitness rules. Everyone knows that it is Kohli who has brought the attentions toward the fitness. Panesar, who has played 50 Test matches for England, believes that the 31-year-old has a big hand in rejuvenating his teammates.

“I love his discipline with fitness. He is a Punjabi Munda. And Punjabi people find it very difficult to get off their naan, rice, their carb-based diets and it’s brilliant how he has done that. It’s made the team fit as well. When I was seeing the Indian team at the World Cup I was thinking why is this team looking so fit. He is expecting that from his teammates,” he added.
