Monty Panesar’s stint as the spin consultant of the Australian cricket team (last month) lasted for just two days, during which he worked with just two players, confirmed the media manager of the team.
“He (Panesar) worked with two of our players, namely Matt Renshaw and Steve O’Keefe for two days in Australia. He is not part of our touring party,” said the Australian team’s media manager.
Panesar worked with Matt Renshaw and spinner Steve O’Keefe in Australia but did not travel with the team to the UAE, where the Australian players travelled in two batches to prepare for the arduous tour, that starts February 23.
It was last month when the Australian team added Panesar and S Sriram to their coaching staff in order to deal with their spin issues in India. Panesar’s stint lasted just two days whereas Sriram, who has worked with Australia in past as well, travelled with the team to UAE, has also flown to India for the series.
The four-match Test series between the two countries starts from February 23 with the first game to be played in Pune.
