Hitting big sixes is not crucial in just Twenty20 or One Day Internationals; it plays an important role in Test Cricket too. Indians didn’t how exciting Test cricket could get, until Virender Sehwag change the approach towards it. He started playing Test Cricket with a higher strike-rate than even ODIs at times. He would hit boundaries at will and getting to a boundary by a hitting a six was a style of his own, which helped widely in grabbing the attention of the Indian audience.
India has had many stroke players in Test cricket, who could hit big sixes, but what if I tell you that it isn’t the Indian team who tops the list of Teams to hit most number of sixes in Test Cricket. What if I tell you Indian team doesn’t even make it to the Top 5 list. It’s hard to believe, but is sadly the truth.

At top of the list, we have the most successful team in World Cricket. It is Australia that tops the list of teams to hit most number of sixes in Test Cricket. They have recorded sixes of 1463.
Closely following Australia is West Indies with 1429 sixes in Test Cricket and they are followed by England with 1403 sixes. These three teams have a huge lead over other teams in terms of sixes hit in Test Cricket.
On 4th position, is New Zealand the only other team to have recorded 1000 or more sixes.
Had the stat been written few days ago, it would be India on the 5th spot with 995 sixes but the ongoing Test between India and Pakistan has taken the team in green to the 5th spot are close to become the 5th team to record 1000 sixes in Test Cricket.
Pakistan lost the ODI series to Bangladesh but have got back strongly in Test series and shown good determination as batsmen have played well to put up big scores.
India is currently on the 6th spot with 995 sixes in Test Cricket and the team’s fans will be hoping that India achieves the 1000 mark in the new series India would play. But getting to the top will be long road for the Indian team.
