On Monday (19th October) evening, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni created another history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he became the first cricketer to appear in 200 IPL matches.

It is the 37th match of the IPL 2020, where Chennai Super Kings are playing against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi).

It is the 200th IPL match for MS Dhoni. While he is already holding the record of the most-capped cricketer in IPL history, he now becomes the first player to appear in 200 IPL matches. After winning the toss in this match, CSK skipper Dhoni decided to bat first.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is just behind of MS Dhoni in the list of the most IPL matches. Rohit has already played 197 matches in his IPL career.

On the other hand, MS Dhoni is playing his 170th IPL match for CSK. During the two-year suspension period for CSK (2016-2017), Dhoni played 30 IPL matches for Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS).

Dhoni is also holding the record of most IPL matches as captain. The ongoing match is his 184th IPL match as captain. While it is his 170th IPL match as CSK captain, he also led Rising Pune Supergiant in 14 matches during the IPL 2016.

The right-handed batsman Dhoni is the 7th most run-scorer in IPL history. Batting in 178 IPL innings, Dhoni has scored 4568 runs with an average of 41.52 and strike-rate of 137.67, including 23 fifties (highest score 84 not out).

On the other hand, it is Dhoni’s 194th T20 match for CSK. In T20 cricket history, he is the third-most capped player for a team. Recently, Virat Kohli became the first player to appear in 200 T20s for a team.
