183 not out against Sri Lanka, Jaipur, 2005

In the six-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, India was already dominating the field with winning two ODI matches back to back. In the third match, Sri Lankan player Kumar Sangakkara’s 138 and Jayawardene’s 71 led Sri Lanka to 298/4 in 50 overs after batting first.
The essay was same Sachin Tendulkar got out after scoring two runs while Virender Sehwag scored just 39 runs. However, Dhoni proved to be a saviour for the team.
Batting at no.3, he scored unbeaten 183 runs off 145 balls. His staggering includes 15 fours and 10 sixes. His magical 183* remains the second-highest score by a batsman in a chase in ODI cricket.
India won that match by six wickets and also went on to win the series by 5-1.
