Yuvraj Singh’s father and former cricketer Yograj Singh had from time to time blamed the Indian team management for being biased with his son. His aggression came out after Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement last year after not getting a place in the World Cup squad.

Earlier, Yograj had blamed MS Dhoni for not supporting the sixer king. And now, he has again pointed out the fingers on the former Indian captain, saying that Yuvraj was the preferred captain ahead of Dhoni but because of destiny, the latter became the captain.

Yograj also compared Ganguly’s captaincy period with Dhoni. According to him, Dhoni didn’t have to work hard as Ganguly had already built up the team which was led by the wicketkeeper, so he became successful.

“The videos I have watched lately featuring Sehwag, Gambhir or Yuvraj, everybody has said something about Dhoni directly or indirectly. Why does everybody talk about Ganguly so much? When he started building the team, its ranking was 7. He took youngsters like Yuvraj, Kaif, Zaheer, Harbhajan, Sehwag and Gambhir and built a new team,” Yograj Singh told News24.

“It’s destiny that Yuvraj was supposed to become captain but Dhoni got the captaincy as well as a well-built team,” said Yograj.

Selectors betrayed Yuvraj Singh: Yograj Singh

Yograj said not only Dhoni but the national selectors have also betrayed his son. Earlier, Yuvraj had also mentioned that though he had passed the yo-yo test, he was not included in the World Cup 2019 squad. Thus, when the team was playing the mega event in England, Yuvraj hung up his boots from international cricket.

“Along with these two, I would say that even the selectors betrayed him. I had met Ravi recently. He asked me for a photograph. I called him and pointed out that all great players should get a send-off based on their performances. When Dhoni, Kohli or Rohit retire, I would request the board to give them a good send-off as they have done so much for Indian cricket. Many have backstabbed him and it hurts,” he said.

Yuvraj, currently, plays in global franchise leagues like Abu Dhabi T10 league and Global T20 Canada. He also last played for Indian team legends in the Road Safety tournament.
