Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings has been fined 10 percent of the Match Fees because of an ”inappropriate public comment” made by him after the match against Mumbai Indians yesterday.
The fine was imposed by Match referee Ranjan Madugalle. A media release by the IPL confirms that MS Dhoni has admitted his offence. Dhoni has been charged with the Level 1 Offence of the “IPL Code of Conduct for the Players and Officials”.
This incident took place after CSK’s loss against Mumbai Indians in the eliminator match of the IPL 8. In the post match interview with the official broadcaster Sony, Dhoni explained Umpire’s decision as “Horrible”.
The decision referred to the one in which Umpire Richard Illingworth gave Dwayne Smith out of a full-toss of Lasith Malinga in the very first over of CSK’s innings when the replays clearly showed that the ball was missing the Leg Stump.
CSK lost the match by 25 runs and MS Dhoni managed to get a Golden Duck. Mumbai Indians have now reached the finals of the IPL 8, whereas CSK will battle it out against the winner of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals match today.
CSK will be playing that match at Ranchi, the hometown of MS Dhoni.
